It is important that we wait on God’s timing. Being patient is one of the hardest things, even I can attest to this. The wait is more about endurance and it isn’t always fun or easy. Even though we always want what we want in the time that we want it, it doesn’t always happen.
I can attest to this, there are and still are times where I am so impatient and find ways around waiting for God, and it has ended badly for me. I have been through this a few times and I can say that when you remain faithful to God, the best outcome always comes your way and this is what HE wants for us all.
I want to highlight the importance of waiting on God and how it will benefit you in the long run.
Waiting on God’s timing is very hard- but His timing is perfect
This topic is very important to me because of many reasons, I benefit a lot from waiting on God’s timing. I want to talk about a recent incident that happened to me and how impatient I was with God. I prayed for a job in women’s health after I left my job in the hospital, I wanted to work outpatient and educate woman about their health.
I had previous posted about the spiritual reason I quit my job, you can read it here. I got an opportunity to work as needed at a fertility clinic as this is what I really wanted to be apart of, before entering the job I was still deciding on what I wanted to do, as I wanted to figure out what I wanted in the long run.
Even though this job was a good opportunity into female fertility, it wasn’t in the particular field of it that I wanted. I wanted to educate patients and offer support to them. I did get a job in the surgery center which was recovery and operation, this gave me a chance to speak with patients but wasn’t where I wanted to be.
Before taking the job, I had applied to another fertility clinic which I really wanted to work as it was inline with what my values are in regards to patient outcome. Therefore I wanted that job, which would be my primary employment and the other job I would work as needed. However, that job was available at the time I had applied and I wasn’t sure when it would be available. My mistake number 1.
I ended doing full-time at the job I had originally planned to work as needed. Mistake number 2! You never compromise on what you want, because when you do compromise you will be left disappointed, which is why God’s timing is always perfect.
Before I took the job I prayed about it and God told me not to take the job, I was warned and I didn’t listen. Mistake number 3. I took the job and within a few days I was under spiritual attack, I because so anxious, my body wasn’t right, my mind wasn’t right and the spiritual energy of my coworkers weren’t right.
The sad thing about it is that I felt it from day one but was unable to figure out what was wrong with me, every week I was faced with new problems. I kept seeing my doctor trying to diagnose myself with things that I knew were spiritual, and I know it was a spiritual attack and I kept asking God for mercy because I needed it.
My work life was horrible I kept meeting resistance from my coworkers and was under a microscope. This all happened within one month of working there, of being stubborn, not listening God and worst not waiting on him. This was a battle that lasted for a few months, while there I reapplied to the clinic I really wanted to work at and got the job.
Now writing this am in a better place, am writing to say that if I had waited on God. I would have saved myself loads of stress and heartache from being spiritually attacked, even though it was tough there was nothing more worth it than waiting on God.
Waiting on God’s time- Why it’s important?
My story was a bit long but I wanted you to get the full picture, this was one of many stories but was the most recent one. I hold myself account for my actions and do feel responsible for not listening to God, because as you can see there are so many things that happened to me within that short period of time.
The first mistake I made was not listening to what God had told me when I prayed. that’s one of the biggest reasons may people are so impatient and this is due to the fact that, we pray but don’t like the answer that God gave us. If we ask a lot of times he will tell us, it might not be right away but he answers, it just not be what you want to hear.
If you wait and endure the process the results will be more beneficial than if you don’t wait. While you wait focus on what is important the outcome and as you wait also think about the lessons you will learn and how you can implement them in your life.
Things to consider while you wait:
1. The wait is temporary
In human time waiting might seem like a long and sometimes it can be a long time. Depending on what you are waiting for whether it be marriage, a child, a job or getting a promotion, it can take time. Even still this is all temporary and this could be due in part on the fact that it’s not your time and god is preparing a better situation for you.
it mayn’t seem like it but god always wants what is best for us, waiting something right away and getting it might do more harm to your life than good. I have been in situations like that where I was given something in the wrong time and it didn’t benefit me in the same way it would, had it been in the right time.
2. While you wait pray
Nothing beats praying and I can tell you first hand how that helps when it comes to waiting. Praying and waiting goes hand in hand, this is the time to see God while you wait for him to give you an answer. I can admit am not always consistent when it comes to praying but I try to even if am on the train or just randomly at anytime.
We need to spend more time with God, myself include as this is how we will know what he wants us to do. Waiting is hard in itself but nothing is worst than not having the spiritual guidance with you. This is a time to do some self discovery in order to reevaluate what is it you want from the Lord and waiting for him to give you an answer.
3. Read the word
Along with praying, reading the word should be apart of waiting. Next to praying and asking god what he wants of you, the Bible will tell you what God wants and expect of you. It is literally the blueprint as to how God wants us to live and what he expects from us, I can tell it it’s not easy but it is up to us to do our part.
If you don’t know the Bible or what verses to turn to then you can use google, which will give you verses you can read. Adding the word when praying and waiting on God will further cement how much waiting on God is the right thing to do.
Is it worth the wait? Waiting on God is the best thing I have ever done. There have been times where I have fallen short but am glad I never gave up. There shouldn’t be a time limit on how long you wait on God but more so on what you do while you wait. The presence of God is where you need to be, it’s not easy or fun sometimes, as you will have so much obstacles in your way.
With prayer, bible reading and perseverance you will be fine. I want to encourage everyone reading this to put all your trust in God, he will never fail you. I can tell you so many experiences that have affected my life and I was able to get through it just by putting all my fate, hope and trust is God. I don’t want to force anyone to do anything as God doesn’t force us to serve him, but I want to encourage anyone out there going through something to be patient and wait on God’s timing.
I want to include a few links for you to read, as I do want you to have all the information whether you are just starting on your journey or needing a little reassurance. I want you to find your way in God, I can tell you when it’s good, it is every good making the bad times worth it.
