The MET gala just happened and boy was the fashion something else. From Rihanna to The Kardashians to other notable celebrities that were either hit or miss for the night.
One thing that was on display other than the costume was the makeup and that means skincare. When going to any event a lot of times our skin has to be on display and oftentimes it’s not always in the best condition. Whether it be pimples, dark spots, or fine lines.
These are problems that sometimes require an easy fix. However, there are times where you have to be consistent with your skincare over time. Celebrities are held to a different standard than regular people and as such their skincare needs to be different.
You don’t have to be a multimillionaire to have great skin or even have a good skincare routine. In fact, you can follow my 5 Step Skincare Routine For Women in Their 20s. You don’t need to be in your 20s to follow it but it’s a foundation to great skin and establishing a good skincare routine.
As anyone knows you treat your skin good and it will return the love. It’s also about what you put in that plays a part in good skincare.
When you are someone who has to wear makeup continuously and over a long period of time, make it a mission to take care of your skin.
Start from scratch
The best thing to do is to start from the beginning. When wearing makeup it’s good to make sure everything is removed, for this it’s good to use an oil cleanse.
I use to use makeup wipes but am not a fan, as this doesn’t always remove everything and instead push products around your face. I like a good oil cleanse or facial balm, this removes the majority of the makeup before the actual cleanser.
Some people don’t do this but instead, just double cleanse. This can be done however it depends on the amount of makeup you are wearing, if you are saturated with makeup, an oil cleanse first might be better.
Take your time with your skin, use a gentle cleanser after removing the makeup. Doing this will remove any excess makeup that might be missed after using the oil cleanse.
Mask your troubles away
One thing about me is that I love a good mask. One of my favorites to add is a detox mask, I have been testing out this green detox mask. It by far is the best and a little goes a long way.
Adding a simple mask to your skincare routine would help to resurface the skin and draw out the toxins. This will then further open the pores allowing any extra makeup to be removed. Not only that it allows the skin to breathe and absorb any products you add after.
Whatever mask you choose to use, use one that has antioxidants as there are ample benefits. This is good for resurfacing and preventing fine lines from forming.
Hydrate
After you cleanse and apply your mask. Your face might be on the drier side, and this isn’t good for the skin. Keeping the skin hydrated is one of the best ways of keeping it clear and breakout-free.
Hydrating the skin helps to improve the elasticity and fine lines, while also combating any oiliness. For this, you can add a moisturizer or a serum, for I have been doing both depending on the time of day. Like cleansing, this is also a very important step in a skincare routine and shouldn’t be ignored.
When you follow these few steps post makeup it helps your skin get better.
